Great succes for the 1st European Gym For Life Challenge!

After several months of hard work and preparation, the 1st edition of the European Gym For Life Challenge is finally here!

 

This Saturday 14th July, more than 800 gymnasts gathered in Cointe for a colorful day, près plusieurs mois de dur labeur, l'événement tant attendu de l'European Gym For Life Challenge est enfin arrivé!

Ce samedi 14 juillet, ce sont plus de 800 gymnastes qui se sont rassemblés sur la Plaine de Cointe pour une journée haute en couleurs, placed under the sign of friendship and sharing.

The EGFL, this new event created by the Technical Committee GfA of the UEG, welcomed 37 groups from 12 countries: Azerbaidjan, Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Great Britain, Norway, Iceland, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland and Estonia.

These groups, composed of gymnasts of minimum 12 years old, offered a beautiful show. beyond the Challenge in itself, the international friendship and the good vibe that have prevailed, each group cheering for the others.

The 37 groups performed under the eyes of 4 evaluators: Mr Kasper Frederiksen (DEN) and Mrs Valérie Grandjean (FRA), Wenche Havnaas (NOR) and Véronique Lauwers (BEL). Those 4 evaluators then established a ranking - gold, silver or bronze.

But that's not all! There were also 3 feedbackers: Mr Cédric Bovey (SUI), Mr Alberto Claudino Loureiro  Nunes (POR) and Mrs Emiliana Polini (ITA). They carefully watched the performances and then gave their feedback to the group's leader.

The awards ceremony was held in a high-energy hall under the guidance of Mr. Farid Gayibov (AZE), President of the UEG, Mr. Athanasios Vasileiadis (GRE), Vice President of the UEG, of Mrs. Hlif Thorgeirsdottir, President of the UEG Gym for All Technical Committee, of Mrs. Jacqueline Quirin-Herbrand, Co-President of the Royal Belgian Gymnastics Federation, and of Mr. Christophe Dortu, President of the Organizing Committee of the EUROGYM.

In addition to the gold, silver and bronze medals awarded to each group, a trophy for the best performance and the best costume was also distributed. Azerbaijan won the vote with its magnificent costume, while the Portugal 12 and 13 were rewarded for their performance.

The many smiles present and the good atmosphere that reigned in Cointe all day long made it a pleasure to see!

2018 EGFL: Medias accreditation process is now open !

In less than 5 months, Liège will host the 1st edition of the European Gym For Life Challenge, a day of show during which countries from all over Europe will perform in front of an audience and in front of a jury! The EGFL will take place on July 14th.
